Pottery wheel that started it all

The woman behind the wheel

Meet Madhura Wadekar

From boardrooms to the pottery wheel — sometimes the best career move is finding the courage to build something entirely new.

Before Studio Meeraya, Madhura spent over 15 years in the corporate world, working with renowned organisations like UB Group and Mastek. On paper, everything looked successful — a stable career, leadership responsibilities, and years of professional experience.

But behind the busy schedules, endless meetings, and constant travel, one question quietly remained:

“What if I chose something that truly made me happy?”

In 2017, she decided to take a sabbatical — a pause that would ultimately change the course of her life. What began as a simple search for a pottery class soon became a lifelong passion.

Clay wasn’t just another hobby. It offered something she hadn’t experienced in years — a sense of calm, purpose, and creative freedom.

The journey

From one wheel to a community

2017

The sabbatical that changed everything

After 15 years in corporate, Madhura took a pause. She found a pottery class, and found herself.

2019

Studio Meeraya opens its doors

A modest studio in Mumbai’s MHADA Colony — one pottery wheel, a few bags of clay, and a dream far bigger than the space itself.

2020

The pandemic — and staying the course

Like many small businesses, Studio Meeraya faced uncertainty. But instead of giving up, those months became a period of learning, experimenting, and refining the craft.

2022

A new chapter begins

The studio expanded into a larger space, introduced handcrafted ceramic production, began collaborating with hotels and hospitality brands, and launched Clay Daily.

Today

A vibrant creative community

Workshops, corporate offsites, private celebrations, school programs, community events, and handcrafted ceramic production. And this is only the beginning.
